Trip Rating Scale

One of the hardest things to determine when making a booking is ‘how hard is this trip?’

What makes this even more challenging is that our opinion on what is challenging is different. What is easy for you may be challenging for another traveller booking on 10Adventures Tours.

We have come up with a 5-point difficulty scale, which we explain below. While the scale is useful, we recommend you check out the daily itinerary to make sure you have experience completing similar activities and distances before. Please be aware that elevation greatly curtails most peoples capabilities, and a 10km hike at 4,000m is significantly more difficult than a 10km hike at 2,000m elevation.

These tours are laid-back tours, often suitable for beginners. The distances covered are typically short, and a focus of these tours are getting to know the locations you are going through. This may mean time snorkeling, exploring a local village or relaxing by the spa. the focus is not on maximizing distance.

These tours are popular tours as they typically offer half-day active adventures, with a good part of the day reserved for exploring local towns, beaches and markets. These tours are often suitable for beginners.

These intermediate-level tours start to become more focused on the activity, and it is likely you will be predominantly be active most of the day. Many tours at this level have a half-day or rest-day partway through the tour. You should review the itinerary and have experience doing similar distances in the past.

These intermediate / advanced tours are for people who regularly participate in the activity and are comfortable being active all day. You should review the itinerary and have experience doing similar distances in the past.

These advanced tours are really focused on adventure travellers who have done similar trips in the past. These trips are characterized by long, hard days. There may not be rest days in the route. You should review the itinerary and have experience doing similar distances in the past.
