Day 1 Arrive in Bressanone
Today you’ll arrive in the town of Bressanone, which is so near the border between Italy and Austria that it also goes by the German pronunciation of Brixen. Check into your hotel and spend the day exploring at your leisure.

Day 2 Hike to Novacella
From Bressanone, you’ll hike alongside the Eisack River to the Abbey of Novacella today. Step inside for a visit in this stately abbey, where the ceilings and walls are intricately decorated with murals and motifs.
Once your neck is done with marvelling at the ceiling (which will certainly happen before you’re ready to stop looking), it’s onwards to Vahrner See shaded by chestnut trees.
You’ll spend the night in Bressanone.

Day 3 Walk Through the Mountains to Chiusa
Begin your journey up to the Pfeffersberg as you walk through the mountain farms and villages. As you hike, you’ll enjoy the scenic mountain views of the Dolomites. You’ll pass by the incredible cloister Säben on your way to Chiusa, also known as Klausen.
Tonight, you’ll have a short orientation meeting at the hotel.

Day 4 Hike to Bolzano
Take the transfer to Barbiano, then begin your hike to the Renon Plateau, which offers spectacular views of the mountains. Your trail will then bring you to the fascinating natural rock formations known as the Earth Pyramids. Take a lovely afternoon cable car ride to Bolzano and spend your evening exploring this beautiful city.

Day 5 Walk to Lake Kalterer See
Next up is the sunny wine country of South Tyrol. Your path will take you past sprawling vineyards, castles, churches, and farms. Take a break at the South Tyrolean Wine Museum in Caldaro before continuing your hike to the beautiful Lake Kalterer See.

Day 6 Explore Wine Country
Today you’ll be walking a loop from the lake that explores some of the best wineries in the region. Sip as you go! Your walk through the peaceful vineyards will bring you to a wonderful lookout at Altenburg.

Distance: 5.5-6 hours, 625m of ascent and 700m of descent

Day 7 Hike to Merano
Begin your day with the transfer to Lana and hike along the Marlinger Waal, an ancient irrigation ditch. The “Waale” brought water to the area hundreds of years ago and are now excellent walking paths. Follow the Tappeiner Weg to Merano and enjoy the historic arbours and parks along the way.

Extended Hiking in the Heart of South Tyrol Price and Dates
This self-guided hiking tour in Italy is run as a custom tour for your group and the price depends on the time of year in which you choose to travel and the number of people in a room.Prices below are per person. Important note: the departures on this tour are only available on Saturdays, however, in some cases the alternative departure dates can be arranged for groups of 5 and more.
Low season (from April 15th to July 14th):
