Day 1 Arrive to Gijón
Arrive independently in Gijón, the largest city in Asturias. Take some time to explore the historic centre, where you can visit Plaza Mayor, the Jovellanos House Museum, San Pedro Church, and Revillagigedo Palace.

Day 2 First Walk to Avilés
Leave Gijón and begin your Camino through the green rural landscapes of Asturias. This relatively straightforward stage passes through small communities such as Pavierna and Santa Eulalia, home to the Church of Santa Eulalia. Follow the Ría de Avilés into Avilés, an industrial city with a fascinating historic centre. You can explore Plaza de España, the City Hall, the Palace of the Marquis of Ferrera, the Church of San Nicolás de Bari, and García Pumarino Palace.

Day 3 Walk to Soto del Barco
Leave Avilés behind and return to the rural and coastal scenery of Asturias. Walk along trails through eucalyptus forests, green meadows, and small communities such as Salinas and San Juan de la Arena, where fresh fish is a local speciality. Your stage ends in Soto del Barco, located beside the Nalón estuary.

Day 4 Walk to Soto de Luiña
Continue through peaceful valleys, tree-lined paths, and picturesque Asturian villages. The climb towards Alto del Palicio adds some challenge to today’s stage, rewarded by the surrounding scenery. Arrive in Soto de Luiña, where the historic pilgrim hostel occupies a former 18th-century pilgrim hospital.

Day 5 Walk to Ballota
Enjoy a shorter and scenic stage as you make your way towards Ballota. You can follow the coastal variant, which offers views of dramatic cliffs, beaches, and natural viewpoints. End the walk in Ballota, a small rural village surrounded by the green meadows of western Asturias.

Day 6 Walk to Luarca
Begin the day near the coast, enjoying views of beaches and imposing cliffs as you walk towards Cadavedo. The route then turns inland and passes through small communities such as San Cristóbal and Querúas. After passing Chano de Canero, tackle a short but steep climb near Hotel Canero before continuing to Luarca, a picturesque town known for its fishing harbour.

Day 7 Walk to Navia
Leave Luarca on a moderate ascent before crossing the Barayo River and descending towards Villapedre. Today’s route takes you away from the coast, passing through several small communities and following sections near a national road. Rivers accompany you along much of the journey before you arrive in Navia.

Day 8 Final Hike to Ribadeo
Choose between two routes for your final walking stage. The route through Tol leads inland, while the option through Tapia de Casariego follows the coast. The operator recommends the coastal option because it passes through more communities with available services and visits Tapia de Casariego, a fishing town with an attractive harbour. Both routes cross the Eo estuary before entering Galicia and reaching Ribadeo.
