Is this tour for me?
We rate this tour as a 4 / 5. The distances are moderate; however, the elevation gain is significant, therefore this tour is not recommended for beginners. Optional ascending to Gran Paradiso peak is technically quite straight forward (it is one of the easiest 4,000m peaks in Alps) but is physically demanding due to elevation gain.

You are now in the heart of where Aosta Valley’s world-famous fontina cheese is made. The trail is a well-marked, well-maintained path, and the view of Gran Paradiso Peak is fanatastic. You will descend to Rhemes-Notre-Dames on a steep, sometimes vertigo-inducting trail, and lose altitude quickly on your way to Torrent, which marks the end of the difficult section of hiking for the day. The remaining stroll takes you to the village of Breuil, before you climb up to le Marmotte hut where you spend the night.
