Everest Base Camp Trekking Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive at Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you’ll be warmly welcomed by a representative and transferred to your hotel in a private tourist vehicle.
Later, during your pre-trip meeting, you’ll meet your trekking guide and go through the details of your upcoming adventure, with time to ask any questions and get fully prepared for your journey into the mountains.

Day 2 Fly to Lukla via Kathmandu or Manthali, trek to Phakding
The day before your flight, you’ll prepare your trekking gear and luggage for the Everest Base Camp journey. Your adventure begins with a thrilling flight into Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla (2,840 m / 9,317 ft), one of the most exciting mountain airports in the world. Nestled in the heart of the Himalayas, Lukla marks the official starting point of your EBC trek.
Upon arrival, your porter guide will warmly welcome you and assist with trek preparations. Your duffle bag will be carried by porters throughout the journey, allowing you to trek comfortably while they support your expedition. Before beginning the trek, you’ll enjoy a short break in Lukla for tea and snacks, before setting off through Cheplung and gradually ascending towards Thadokoshi (2,580 m / 8,464 ft).
The trail then continues along the beautiful Dudh Koshi River, with views of snow-capped peaks such as Kusum Khangkaru and Nupla, before arriving in Phakding, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 3 Trek to Namche Bazaar
After breakfast, you’ll begin trekking along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing suspension bridges and passing through villages like Toktok, Benkar, Chomua, and Monjo. At Monjo, you’ll enter Sagarmatha National Park before continuing to Jorsalle, a peaceful riverside stop ideal for lunch. After lunch, the trail climbs steadily, crossing the iconic Hillary Suspension Bridge and ascending to Top Danda, your first viewpoint of Mount Everest in the distance.
From here, it’s a final push to Namche Bazaar, passing prayer flags, mani stones, and stunning Himalayan views along the way.
After around 5–6 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive in Namche Bazaar, a vibrant Sherpa town perfect for rest and acclimatization.

Day 4 Acclimatization Day in Namche – Hike to Hotel Everest View
Acclimatization is essential before gaining higher altitude, helping prevent mountain sickness and ensuring a safer trekking experience. Today, you’ll stay in Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft), the vibrant heart of the Everest region, known for its unique Sherpa culture, modern comforts, and mountain atmosphere.
After breakfast, you’ll take a short acclimatization hike to Hotel Everest View (3,880 m / 12,730 ft), one of the highest hotels in the world. From here, you’ll enjoy incredible panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and many surrounding peaks.
Back in Namche, you’ll have time to explore its cafés, shops, museums, and cultural spots like the Sherpa Museum and Sagarmatha Next, while soaking in the lively atmosphere of this iconic mountain town.

Day 5 Trek to Tengboche
After breakfast, you’ll begin your trek from Namche Bazaar towards Tengboche, ascending gradually through lush forests and scenic mountain trails. Along the way, you’ll pass memorial stupas dedicated to Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and small rest stops such as Kenjoma, Sanasa, and Leushyasa. After 2–3 hours, you’ll stop for lunch at Phunki Tenga before crossing a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi and Imja Khola rivers. From here, the trail climbs steadily for another 2–3 hours through winding forest paths towards Tengboche.
At 3,860 m, Tengboche is one of the most beautiful viewpoints on the Everest Base Camp trek, offering stunning panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku.
Here, you’ll also visit the famous Tengboche Monastery, a spiritual center of the Khumbu region, where you may witness the peaceful chanting ceremony of the resident monks before settling in for the night.

Day 6 Trek to Dingboche
From Tengboche, you’ll begin your descent through alpine forests, crossing the Imja River via a scenic suspension bridge as you make your way towards Dingboche. Along the trail, you’ll enjoy ever-changing views of the iconic Ama Dablam (6,812 m / 22,349 ft), often called the “Queen of the Himalayas,” along with glimpses of other surrounding peaks.
The route passes through traditional Sherpa villages such as Debuche, Pangboche, and Somare, where you’ll stop for lunch, before continuing through Orsho and Kalapani. After a gradual final ascent, you’ll arrive in Dingboche, a beautiful high-altitude village and an important acclimatization stop on the Everest Base Camp trek.

Day 7 Nangkartsang Peak Acclimatization Hike
At 4,410 meters (14,468 ft), Dingboche is a key acclimatization stop on the Everest Base Camp trek, helping trekkers adjust safely to higher altitude. This peaceful Sherpa village offers a calm atmosphere, basic facilities, and incredible Himalayan surroundings.
After breakfast, you’ll set out on an acclimatization hike to Nangkartsang Peak (5,083 m / 16,677 ft), one of the best viewpoints in the Everest region. The gradual ascent rewards you with sweeping 360° views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Nuptse, and many surrounding peaks. After taking in the panoramic scenery, you’ll descend back to Dingboche to rest and recover, surrounded by the quiet beauty of the high Himalayas.

Day 8 Trek to Lobuche
After breakfast, you’ll begin your trek from Dingboche, with the morning light rising over Mount Ama Dablam as you head towards Thukla, your lunch stop. The trail climbs gradually, passing yak grazing areas and the junction near the Gompa where routes to Nangkartshang Peak and Lobuche split. Along the way, you’ll enjoy stunning views of Cholatse and Taboche, as well as glimpses of the Khumbu Glacier and surrounding alpine landscapes.
After a break at Thukla, the trail becomes steeper as you ascend to the Thukla Pass Memorial, a moving site dedicated to climbers who lost their lives in the Himalayas.
From here, the route continues for another hour before reaching Lobuche (4,910 m / 16,109 ft), a high-altitude settlement surrounded by dramatic peaks including Nuptse, Lobuche East, Pumori, and Lingtren, offering a truly unforgettable Himalayan atmosphere.

Day 9 Everest Base Camp Trek & Return to Gorak Shep
Today marks one of the most anticipated highlights of your Everest Base Camp trek. After an early breakfast in Lobuche, you’ll begin your ascent past the Pyramid Research Center, continuing along a scenic trail surrounded by breathtaking views of Pumori, Nuptse, Lingtren, and other surrounding peaks. After 2–3 hours, you’ll reach Gorak Shep for a short rest and lunch.
From here, you’ll continue towards Everest Base Camp (5,364 m / 17,598 ft), trekking alongside the Khumbu Glacier and Icefall while enjoying incredible views of Everest and the surrounding Himalayan giants.
Reaching Base Camp is a powerful and unforgettable moment—a true milestone at the foot of the world’s highest mountain. After taking time to soak in the experience, you’ll return to Gorak Shep for a well-earned rest.

Day 10 Kala Patthar Hike & Descend to Pheriche
Early in the morning, you’ll hike up to Kala Patthar (5,555 m / 18,225 ft), the highest point of your Everest Base Camp trek and one of the best viewpoints in the entire region. From the summit, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and the surrounding Himalayan giants, especially as the first light of sunrise illuminates the peaks.
After spending time at the viewpoint, you’ll descend back to Gorak Shep for breakfast before continuing your trek. The route follows familiar trails past Lobuche and the Thukla Pass Memorial before branching off towards Pheriche. After a steady descent, you’ll arrive in Pheriche (4,240 m / 13,911 ft), a peaceful valley settlement surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery, where you’ll rest for the night.

Along the way, you’ll cross familiar landmarks and enjoy the changing landscapes as you make your way back into lower elevations. After a full day of trekking, you’ll arrive in Namche Bazaar, where you can rest, relax, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the Everest region.

As you arrive in Lukla, you’ll have time to relax and celebrate your achievement in this lively mountain town, reflecting on the incredible journey you’ve completed through the Everest region.

This tour is based on a combination of a comfortable 3-star hotel stay in Kathmandu and locally run guesthouses throughout the trekking route in the Everest Region.

The tour ends where it begins, in Kathmandu.
You will be given a complete packing list for your trek upon booking. Plan to layer your clothing to be comfortable at different temperatures. You should be able to add a waterproof layer (jacket and trousers) to stay dry, as well as protect yourself from the sun with a hat and sunglasses. A headlamp with extra batteries is also recommended. You will carry your own daypack (30 L recommended) during the day and your baggage on the trek is limited to 12 kg. You should also have a sleeping bag, dry bags, a padlock (to lock your trek bag) and a basic first aid kit. Please respect the traditional Nepalese culture by dressing conservatively (avoid bare shoulders and keep legs covered)
You may need an outlet adapter for any electrical items. You can find more information about this HERE. Electricity will not always be available along the trek. Some lodges will have solar powered charging facilities for an additional hourly fee.
Plan to have cash, exchanged into Nepali rupees. It is possible to withdraw rupees from ATMs in Kathmandu but not outside the city. An estimated $400-600 USD per person should be enough for meals in Kathmandu, drinks, snacks and other personal expenses such as showers and charging batteries in the trekking lodges. This should also cover tips for your guide, porters, and other trek staff.
Guides and porters appreciate your tips, and this forms a large portion of their compensation. If you receive good service, you should plan on tipping your guides approximately $3-$5 / per day per person in your group. You should tip your porter $2 - $4 per person per day. A larger group would tip on the lower end of the scale, while a smaller group of 2-5 would tip on the higher end.
