Day 1 Trek to Hrafntinnusker
Welcome to Iceland! Meet your group and guide at the bus station in Reykjavík, departing in the morning together to the trailhead at Landmannalaugar. On the drive, you’ll gaze out the window at incredible Icelandic landscapes of undulating mountains and several volcanoes. Arrive at the trailhead by noon, then depart after lunch into the wilderness. The route will lead you past small canyons, hot springs, and vivid mountain ridges. Reach your first mountain hut in Hrafntinnusker by the late afternoon and settle in for a cozy night immersed in nature and surrounded by geothermal activity.

Distance: 12 km, 4-5 hours, 470 m of ascent
Meals: Lunch, dinner
Day 2 Hike to Álftavatn Lake
After breakfast, leave Hrafntinnusker and descend through the gullies of Jökultungur, surrounded by steaming hot springs and bubbling mud pools. Along the way, enjoy sweeping views south towards the Álftavatn area and the Mýrdalsjökull and Eyjafjallajökull glaciers.
In the afternoon, arrive at Hvanngil Hut, set beneath the distinctive green slopes of Stórasúla, where you’ll settle in for the night.

Distance: 15-16 km, 5 hours, 440 m of descent

Day 3 Markafljót Canyon and Trek to Emstrur
Leave the green surroundings of Hvanngil behind and enter the stark black deserts of Mælifellssandur. Continue towards Hattfell, an ancient green volcano, before reaching the Emstrur region, traditionally used by farmers for summer grazing.
Before arriving at Botnar Hut, visit the impressive Markarfljót Canyon, carved almost 200 m deep into the surrounding rock. Settle into the hut for another night in the Icelandic highlands.

Distance: 12 km, 6 hours, 100 m of descent

Day 4 Hike Emstrur to Þórsmörk
Continue through the small valleys and gullies of Emstrur, with the vast Mýrdalsjökull glacier rising nearby. As you approach Þórsmörk, descend into greener landscapes filled with arctic birch forests and colourful flowers.
Arrive at the mountain huts in Þórsmörk and celebrate the day with a barbecue before spending your final night in the Icelandic wilderness.

Distance: 19 km, 6-7 hours, 300 m of descent
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Day 5 Explore Þórsmörk and Farewell
Spend a leisurely morning in Þórsmörk, exploring the nearby trails with your guide. Options include the Sönghellir Cave, renowned for its echoes, or summiting a small mountain to gain spectacular views. In the afternoon, the group will hop on the public bus to return to the bus station in Reykjavík. Bid farewell to your crew and continue onto the next leg of your journey.

Accommodation on the Laugavegur Hut-to-Hut Trekking Tour
This tour is based in traditional mountain huts. The huts are basic but do provide running water, flushable toilets or outhouses, and fully-equipped kitchens. All of the huts are heated, some have electricity and some have hot water. They have bunk rooms with single and twin beds, participants have to be prepared to share a bunk with other travelers from the group. You can choose to bring your own sleeping bag or rent one from the tour company.
In some cases, the accommodation listed below may need to be substituted for other comparable accommodations.
